Feasibility assessment of carbon farming projects

CarbonQuest's general manager Caroline van Tilborg has over 15 years of experience in assessing the feasibility of zero to low-emission projects. Caroline started working in the carbon market as Senior Financial Advisor within the Prototype Carbon Fund team of the World Bank in 2002. She was responsible for assessing, structuring and modelling carbon projects and its financial robustness under various scenarios. Caroline has a master degree in economics and also worked for Rabobank International as Senior Project Finance Manager. Over the past 12 months CarbonQuest has conducted three feasibility studies.

Advice on the Carbon Farming Initiative

CarbonQuest's team has over 10 years of experience in the carbon asset creation process and associated trade in carbon credits on the international carbon market. Since the inception of the CFI, CarbonQuest has used this knowledge to advise various farmers/stakeholders on the CFI, including Indigenous land managers. CarbonQuest has been issued an AFSL (430147) to provide financial advisory services to, and dealing in carbon credits on behalf of, clients. Over the past 12 months CarbonQuest has provided advisory services to more than 100 land managers.

Development of governance and contractual arrangements

Caroline van Tilborg worked closely with the Government of India to design the governance, regulatory and contractual structure to develop carbon projects under the Programme of Activities Framework allowing aggregation of multiple carbon projects undertaken by various proponents. Extensive stakeholder consultation processes were required in order to enter into various contractual arrangements which underpinned each party's role and responsibility in ensuring the creation of eligible carbon credits. CarbonQuest has been shortlisted to assist a client in the design of a governance structure and contractual arrangements for a savannah burning project in Australia.

Provision of training

CarbonQuest has trained many people in developing CFI projects from beginning to end and has been selected to train regional NRM groups on CFI related matters and the carbon markets.
