Launch of Annual Report 2011-12
The inaugural Annual Report of the Land Sector Carbon and Biodiversity Board is now available online. The Annual Report provides an update on the implementation and performance of the Land Sector Package of the Clean Energy Future.
The Land Sector Carbon and Biodiversity Board (the Board) is established under the Climate Change Authority Act 2011 as part of the Clean Energy Future Plan. The Board provides advice to the Australian Government on a range of Land Sector package measures to help ensure the protection of Australia's ecosystems and increase resilience to the impacts of climate change.
Role of the Board
The Board's role is to:
- advise the Minister/s on implementation of, performance indicators and priorities for research in relation to the Land Sector Package;
- advise the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities on performance indicators, implementation of and guidelines for the Biodiversity Fund; and
- provide guidance on the implementation of the Land Sector Package.
The Board is comprised of a Chair, the Hon Robert Debus AM, and four members who are jointly appointed by the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities and the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in consultation with the Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency.

The Board meets three to four times each year and will report annually to Parliament about progress of the Land Sector package.
