The Australian Government has abolished the carbon tax, with effect from 1 July 2014.
The Australian Government reintroduced a package of bills on 23 June 2014 to repeal the carbon tax.
On 18 June 2014 the Government introduced to Parliament a bill to implement the Emissions Reduction Fund. The Carbon Farming Initiative Amendment Bill 2014 will expand the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011.
The Department is seeking public comment on a draft assessment bilateral agreement with the Western Australia. Comments close 27 June 2014.
