Emissions Reduction Fund
The Emissions Reduction Fund is the centrepiece of the Australian Government's policy suite to reduce emissions.
The Emissions Reduction Fund will operate alongside existing programmes that are already working to reduce Australia's emissions growth such as the Renewable Energy Target and energy efficiency standards on appliances, equipment and buildings. The Emissions Reduction Fund will provide incentives for emissions reduction activities across the Australian economy.
Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015 under the Emissions Reduction Fund
On 24 November 2014, the Parliament passed the Carbon Farming Initiative Amendment Bill 2014, which amends the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011 and gives legislative effect to the Emissions Reduction Fund.
The passage of the Bill means that some of the provisions in the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Regulations 2011 are now out of date. The Government is proposing a new set of rules to support the operation of the Emissions Reduction Fund: the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015 (the Rules).
