Project advice
The Committee provides expert scientific advice on new coal seam gas or large coal mining proposals referred to it by federal, state and territory government regulators.
The Australian Government can seek the Committee's advice on projects being assessed under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

The Queensland, New South Wales, South Australian and Victorian governments can seek the Committee's advice through a National Partnership Agreement.
The Committee's project assessment advice seeks to improve the scientific understanding of water-related impacts of these projects through a transparent process that builds public confidence.
Advice will be available on this website after decisions have been made.
