Accreditation of a plan of management and declaration pursuant to section 33
I, ANDREW MCNEE, Assistant Secretary, Marine Environment Branch as Delegate of the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, pursuant to subsection 33(3), hereby propose to accredit the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006 for the purposes of a declaration under subsection 33(1). In doing so I am satisfied that:
- The Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006 in force under the Commonwealth Fisheries Management Act 1991 meets the criteria prescribed by the regulations;
- There has been adequate assessment of the impacts that actions approved in accordance with the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006 have, will have or are likely to have on the environment when taken in a Commonwealth Marine Area as protected by sections 23 and 24A; and
- Actions approved or taken in accordance with the Macquarie Island Toothfish Fishery Management Plan 2006 will not have unacceptable or unsustainable impacts on the environment when taken in a Commonwealth Marine Area as protected by sections 23 and 24A.
