On 28 February 2007, Humane Society International Inc. (HSI) lodged an application with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (the Tribunal) to review the s303FN decision to declare the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery (SESSF) an approved Wildlife Trade Operation (WTO). The s303FN decision was originally made on 21 December 2006 and varied on 12 December 2007.
Through mediation in the Tribunal the parties (which included the Australian Fisheries Management Authority) reached an agreed outcome and the Tribunal made the following consent decision to vary the SESSF WTO by adding a number of conditions. The consent decision should be read in conjunction with the December 2006 WTO (as varied on 12 December 2007) for the full suite of conditions.
