Accreditation of a plan of management and declaration pursuant to section 33
I, Ian Gordon Campbell, Minister for the Environment and Heritage, pursuant to subsection 33(3), hereby propose to accredit the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Management Plan (as amended) for the purposes of a declaration under subsection 33(1). In doing so I am satisfied that:
- The Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Management Plan (as amended) in force under the Commonwealth Fisheries Management Act 1991 meets the criteria prescribed by the regulations;
- There has been adequate assessment of the impacts that actions approved in accordance with the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Management Plan (as amended) have, will have or are likely to have on the environment when taken in a Commonwealth Marine Area as protected by sections 23 and 24A; and
- Actions approved or taken in accordance with the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Management Plan (as amended) will not have unacceptable or unsustainable impacts on the environment when taken in a Commonwealth Marine Area as protected by sections 23 and 24A.
