About the assessment report
In August 2007, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority provided a submission for further assessment of the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery under Parts 10, 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The submission - Annual Status Report - Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery August 2007 and the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Purse Seine Operations Supplementary Information reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the Department of the Environment and Heritage in 2004.
The 2008 DEWHA assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
