About the report

In July 2009, the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and the Communities commissioned the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to provide advice on the sustainability of shark catches in the New South Wales Ocean Trap and Line Fishery, and identify the research required to support the ongoing management of the shark component of the fishery.

The report was finalised in February 2010, and its findings were considered in the Department's Assessment of the New South Wales Ocean Trap and Line Fishery - November 2010.
