About the report
In October 2007 the Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry, Fisheries and Mines (NT DPIFM) provided a submission for further assessment of the Northern Territory Trepang Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The submission - A Report Against the Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management Of Fisheries - 2007, reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA, formerly the Department of the Environment and Water Resources) in December 2004.
The 2007 DEWHA assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
