About the submission
The Department of Primary Industries Queensland has prepared this report for Environment Australia for assessment under the guidelines for exemption from export controls of the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 relating to wildlife. Presently, the only export product from the Gulf of Carpentaria Inshore Fin Fish Fishery (GOCIFF) is shark fin, however, there is scope for products from other species (e.g., grey mackerel) to be exported in the future depending on market forces.
