Queensland Fin Fish (Stout Whiting) Trawl Fishery

Accreditation of a Plan of Management for the Purposes of Part 13
Department of the Environment and Heritage, 16 November 2004

I, Ian Cresswell, Assistant Secretary, Wildlife Trade and Sustainable Fisheries Branch, as Delegate of the Minister for the Environment and Heritage, being satisfied that:

• The management regime for the Queensland Fin Fish (Stout Whiting) Trawl Fishery in force under the Fisheries Act 1994 and the Fisheries Regulation 1995, to the extent that the management regime is a plan of management for the Queensland Fin Fish (Stout Whiting) Trawl Fishery, requires persons engaged in fishing under the management regime to take all reasonable steps to ensure that members of listed threatened species, listed migratory species, cetaceans and listed marine species are not killed or injured as a result of the fishing; and
• The fishery to which the management regime relates does not, or is not likely to, adversely affect:
  • the survival or recovery in nature of any listed threatened species; or
  • the conservation status of a listed migratory species, cetacean, or listed marine species or a population of that species,

hereby accredit the Queensland Fisheries Act 1994 and the Fisheries Regulation 1995, to the extent that the Act and the Regulation apply to the Queensland Fin Fish (Stout Whiting) Trawl Fishery, pursuant to sections 208A, 222A, 245 and 265 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 for the purposes of Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Part 13 of the Act.
