Environmental assessment under the EPBC Act
Department of the Environment and Heritage, March 2007
ISBN 0 6425 5264 9
In January 2007, the Department of Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia provided a submission for further assessment of the South Australian Giant Crab Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The submission - Ecological Assessment of the South Australian Giant Crab (Pseudocarcinus gigas) Fishery reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the Department of Environment and Water Resources (DEW) in March 2004.
The submission was released for a twenty-day public comment period that expired on 9 February 2007. No public comments were received. The 2007 DEW assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
