About the report
The Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries, Water and Environment (DPIWE) has submitted a document for assessment under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The draft document Assessing the ecological sustainability of the Tasmanian octopus fishery (the submission) was received by the Department of Environment and Heritage (DEH) in September 2005. The submission was released for a thirty-day public comment period that expired on 16 November 2005. Three public comments were received. DPIWE provided a response to the issues raised and amended the submission where necessary. A final submission for assessment was received on 6 December 2005.
The submission reports on the Tasmanian Octopus Fishery (TOF) against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries. The DEH assessment considers the submission, associated documents, public comments and DPIWE's response to the comments.
