In January 2007, the Fisheries Victoria Division of the Department of Primary Industries provided a submission for further assessment of the Victorian Giant Crab Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The submission - Submission for Reassessment of the Victorian Giant Crab Fishery - reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the then Department of the Environment and Heritage in March 2004.
The 2007 Department of the Environment and Water Resources' assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
