About the submission

The Department of the Environment and Heritage (DEH) has received an application - Application for an approved Wildlife trade operation for export approval from PQ Aquatics. The application will be used to assess the operation for the purposes of Part 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

Consideration will be given to declaring the captive breeding of Hippocampus breviceps, Hippocampus abdominalis, Phycodurus eques and Phyllopteryx taeniolatus as specified by the EPBC Regulations 2000, by PQ Aquatics for the purposes of the aquarium trade, as a Wildlife Trade Operation under section 303FN of the EPBC Act.

In accordance with the provisions of sections 303FR and 303DC of the EPBC Act, you were invited to comment on this proposal. Closing date for comments was Monday 27 November 2006.
