About the assessment report

The Department of Fisheries Western Australia (DFWA) submitted a document for assessment of the WA Beche-de-mer Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The draft document Application to the Department of the Environment and Water Resources on the Beche-De-Mer Fishery (the submission) was received by the Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) in September 2007. The submission was released for public comment which expired on 19 November 2007. 1 public comment was received and DFWA provided a response to the issues raised. No changes were made to the submission as a result of the public comment.

The submission was used to assess the WA Beche-de-mer Fishery against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries - 2nd Edition. This DEWHA Assessment Report (December 2007) considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
