About the report

In January 2007, the Department of Fisheries, Western Australia provided a submission for further assessment of the West Coast Deep Sea Crab Interim Managed Fishery under Parts 13 and 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The submission - Assessment of the West Coast Deep Sea Crab Interim Managed Fishery reports against the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries and provides updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original assessment undertaken by the Department of Environment and Water Resources (DEW) in March 2004.

The submission was released for a twenty-day public comment period that expired on 23 February 2007. No public comments were received. The 2007 DEW assessment report considers the submission and associated documents and provides an assessment against the wildlife trade and protected species provisions of the EPBC Act.
