Environmental assessment under the EPBC Act

This is an application to Department of the Environment and Heritage (DEH) to assess the West Coast Deep Sea Crab Fishery (WCDSCF) against the Commonwealth's Guidelines for the ecologically sustainable management of fisheries. The submission of a successful application against these guidelines is now needed to meet the requirements under Part 13A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC), to enable the giant crab (Pseudocarcinus gigas), champagne crab (Hypothalassia acerba), snow crab (Chaceon bicolor) and other relevant by-product species to be listed on the section 303DB list of species exempt from export regulations (previously Schedule 4 of the Wildlife Protection (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act, 1982) past December 2003.
