About the submission

This is an application to Department of the Environment and Heritage (EA) to assess the Exmouth Gulf Prawn Managed fishery (EGP) against the Commonwealth guidelines for sustainable fisheries. The submission of a successful application against these guidelines is now needed to meet the requirements under Part 13 A of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (1999), to enable the western king prawn (Penaeus latisulcatus), tiger prawn (Penaeus esculentus), endeavour prawn (Metapenaeus endeavouri), banana prawn (Penaeus merguiensis) and other relevant by-products of this fishery to remain on the section 303DB list of species exempt from export regulations (previously Schedule 4 of the Wildlife Protection (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act, 1982) past in December 2003.
