About the submission

The current export approval for the Western Australian (WA) Shark Bay Crab Interim Managed Fishery is valid until 15 November 2007 and the fishery is now due for assessment for ongoing export accreditation. The Department of the Environment and Water Resources (DEW) received a submission - Application to the Department of the Environment and Water Resources on the Shark Bay Crab Interim Managed Fishery and a Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) report - Development of stock allocation and assessment techniques in Western Australian blue swimmer crab fisheries from the Department of Fisheries, Western Australia in August 2007. The documents have been provided to address the Australian Government Guidelines for the Ecologically Sustainable Management of Fisheries (the Guidelines) and to provide updates on the implementation of recommendations made in the original DEW assessment.
