Management arrangements for activities in the Ashmore Reef and Cartier Island Reserves

The following table outlines activities allowed without permit (Tick), allowed with permit (P) or not allowed (Cross) in the Ashmore Reef and Cartier Island Reserves. Where a permit is required, applications will be assessed on a case by case basis. Any access allowed to closed areas will be subject to strict conditions to ensure the ecological values of the Reserve are protected.

* Camping and lighting fires is not allowed in any part of the reserve.
** Fishing (finfish only) for immediate consumption is allowed.
# No collecting allowed. Collecting refers to the collecting of any object, animal or plant from the Reserve, including coral, shells and sedentary species such as sea cucumbers.
