Cetacean permit application C2007-0005
Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, 2 July 2007
The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts has received an application for a permit to interfere with (close approach) a cetacean under Part 13, section 237 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The application is for interference (close approach and biopsy samples collection) with whale and dolphin species in Australian and International waters. The applicant wishes to take photographs and collect biopsy samples for scientific research.
A permit is sought for the period commencing from the date of approval to 11 July 2012.
In accordance with the provisions of section 237(3b) of the EPBC Act, you were invited to comment on this proposal before COB Friday 13 July 2007.
