About the nomination
This advice follows the assessment of a public nomination to list the 'Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia) Eastern Plains Complex' as a Critically endangered ecological community under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The nomination was placed on the 2010 Finalised Priority Assessment List (FPAL) to be assessed for its eligibility for listing by 31 December 2012.
Invitation to comment
The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (the Department) in conjunction with the Threatened Species Scientific Committee (the Committee) is seeking comments on a nomination to list this ecological community under the Australian Government's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The Department and Committee welcomes the views' of experts, stakeholders and the general public on the draft assessment for the ecological community and the proposal to list it as critically endangered under the EPBC Act.
Please note that comments received will be forwarded to both the Committee and Minister. Information in the advice, as well as other information received by the Department, will be used by the Committee to advise the Minister for Environment on amendments to the list of threatened ecological communities under the EPBC Act.
The public comment period closed 15 February 2013.
