Continuing the "non-directory" consideration of metadata:

Title			:	standard  -  copy across
Custodian		:  	standard  -  copy across
Contact Details	:	add during output process
Description		:	copy across
				add subset extent details
Currency		:	calculate
Status			:	calculate from compliance code
Access		:   	standard  -  copy across
Data Quality		:	copy across/calculate
Metadata Date	:  	date of extract or shipment.

I would be looking to have "directory-level" metadata automatically
refreshed from routine maintenance (daily activity for us) and for
it to be available to enquirers by any remote access means.  If this
can be achieved, then it would be a simple matter to copy it to
some directory of the type being mooted.

Is anybody else looking at real-time, rather than retrospective,
metadata maintenance?
