"Living on the Edge - the maritime estate" will be one of two coastal and
marine sessions at the Second Joint Conference of the Institute of Australian
Geographers and the New Zealand Geographical Society to be held at the
University of Tasmania, January 28-31, 1997.

Coastal change session
======================
Monitoring coastal change is the title of a session convened by Professor
Roger McLean, ADFA. It will deal with issues such as sequential vertical
air photo analysis; map and chart interpretation; oblique ground photography;
archival, interview and questionnaire techniques; and field surveys of
profiles, intercept positions etc. Further information is available from:

"Living on the Edge" program
============================
This session is being convened by Mr. Wayne Slater, ANU. It will have an
aquatic emphasis but also cover issues in relation to the land-ocean
interface.
The session will be opened with a keynote address from Professor Henry Nix,
Director, Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies, ANU. The subject of
Professor Nix's address will be "Measuring, monitoring & managing out maritime
estate".
