SUMMARY

I would be grateful for your assistance and cooperation with the URA Project by:

1. 	completing a Questionnaire 
	(if you have an interest in or are involved with coastal and marine 
	issues. Questionnaire is at <http://cres.anu.edu.au/~wayne/Quest.phtml>); 
	and/ or

2. 	promoting the completion of the Questionnaire by others with an 
	interest in or who are involved with coastal and marine issues.

QUESTIONNAIRE 
=============
As a standardised way to survey initial requirements for the Coastal Atlas, 
a Questionnaire has been developed. Information derived from the survey 
will be used to assist in determining technical requirements for the Atlas. 

The Questionnaire deals with individual, group and organisational:

* contact details
* main type of activities 
* current access to coastal & marine data sets and information 
* required access to data and information, and 
* potential involvement with and use of the Australian Coastal Atlas.

WEB ACCESS
==========
The Questionnaire is available for completion via the World Wide Web. It can 
be located at the following URL:

PRINTED QUESTIONNAIRES
======================
"Hard-copy" Questionnaires will be mailed out within the next week.

The main source for the mailing list is the ERIN newsletter address list.
However, it would be appreciated if you could notify other relevant mailing 
lists that might be used.

SUBMISSION DATE
===============
Although initially set for 31/10/96, this has been extended to 20 November 
1996 (largely brought about by the logistical difficulties for printing 
and distributing the hard copy version).

ACTION REQUIRED
===============
As a principal contact group, your assistance and cooperation would be 
greatly appreciated. Main points are:

* your completion of the Questionnaire (either individually or on behalf of 
  the group you represent); and

* your promotion of the Questionnaire being completed by other relevant	
  individuals, groups and organisations.

I would also appreciate your notification of other relevant Listserver 
addresses, email aliases or other appropriate general mailing lists.

FEEDBACK
========
You may have queries about the Questionnaire or, more broadly, the Coastal 
Atlas URA Project itself - including its carriage. I would welcome any 
feedback.
