National Environmental Education Network

The National Environmental Education Network (NEEN) was established in May 2001 as an initiative under the Australian Government's National Action Plan on Environmental Education.

Purpose

NEEN's purpose, consistent with the National Action Plan, is to improve inter-governmental coordination of the delivery of environmental education, promoting more efficient use of resources and better outcomes.

The Network mostly exchanges information electronically or in hard copy, with limited face-to-face contact to ensure participation costs are kept at a minimum.

Members

The Network comprises representatives from Commonwealth, State and Territory environment and education agencies. See the list of NEEN Members.

NEEN Working Groups

Sustainable Schools Working Group

The Sustainable Schools Working Group was set up in 2001 to discuss a proposal from New South Wales to trial a Sustainable Schools program. Since then, the Working Group has overseen the development of the Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative.
