National Education for Sustainability Network
About the Network
The National Environmental Education Network was established in May 2001 as an initiative under the Australian Government's National Action Plan on Environmental Education. The Network was reconstituted as the National Education for Sustainability Network following release of the Australian Government's second National Action Plan, Living Sustainably: the Australian Government's National Action Plan for Education for Sustainability, in 2009.
Purpose
The Network's purpose, consistent with the National Action Plan, is to improve inter-governmental coordination of the delivery of environmental education, promoting more efficient use of resources and better outcomes.
The Network mostly exchanges information electronically or in hard copy, with limited face-to-face contact to ensure participation costs are kept at a minimum.
Members
The Network comprises representatives from Commonwealth, State and Territory environment and education agencies.
