EnviroSmart

EnviroSmart Logo

EnviroSmart is a new environmental education resource for schools. It has been prepared under the National Education Program of the Minerals Council of Australia for the middle years of schooling.

Using mining as a context for learning about environmental management issues, students work through a variety of activities and ultimately develop a School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP). Schools also have the opportunity to be publicly recognised as an EnviroSmart school.

EnviroSmart covers five environmental issues: Air, Water, Land, Energy and Waste. All are of particular interest to the minerals industry.

What's in the EnviroSmart package?

An application to become an EnviroSmart school. Successful schools will be recognised publicly and provided with a certificate.

For further information on activities on offer for teachers and students under the National Education Program visit the Minerals Council of Australia web site.
