EnviroSmart is a new environmental education resource for schools. It has been prepared under the National Education Program of the Minerals Council of Australia for the middle years of schooling.
Using mining as a context for learning about environmental management issues, students work through a variety of activities and ultimately develop a School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP). Schools also have the opportunity to be publicly recognised as an EnviroSmart school.
EnviroSmart covers five environmental issues: Air, Water, Land, Energy and Waste. All are of particular interest to the minerals industry.
An application to become an EnviroSmart school. Successful schools will be recognised publicly and provided with a certificate.
