A project of the Griffith University Centre for Innovation and Research in Environmental Education (John Fien, Director) in association with the Griffith University Waste Management Research Unit (David Moy, Director), and the environmental education and communication consulting firms, Econnect (Lin Martin, Director) and Edworks (Jan Oliver, Director).

Environmental Protection in Australia: A Workshop Manual for Teachers was commissioned by the Environment Protection Agency located in the Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Sport and Territories. This web site was financially supported by the Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Sport and Territories, under the Environmental Education and Information Grants Programme.

The Griffith University Centre for Innovation and Research in Environmental Education would like to express its appreciation to the Environment Protection Agency and the Commonwealth Department of the Environment, Sport and Territories for the faith extended to the Centre in sponsoring both the print and WWW version of Environmental Protection in Australia: A Workshop Manual for Teachers

Appreciation is also extended to the Griffith University Waste Management Research Unit and the School of Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences which provided the scientific and technological expertise behind several of the modules.

Inspiration

The first Director of the Waste Management Research Unit, the late Professor Philip Jones, was a driving force behind our recognition of the need for increased public appreciation and understanding of the science behind environmental problems and their solution. It was Professor Jones who encouraged collaboration between his team of environmental engineers and the environmental education staff of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences who later went on to form the Centre for Innovation and Research in Environmental Education.
