Caloundra South development
The Caloundra South development, proposed by Stockland, is being assessed under national environment law for its potential impacts on nationally protected matters, including on the Pumicestone Passage, which forms part of the Moreton Bay Ramsar Wetland.
Stockland will be required to prepare a detailed assessment report on the environmental impacts of the proposal (called a 'public environment report').
Where is it up to?
On 6 October 2011, the department finalised tailored guidelines for the public environment report. Stockland must base its public environment report on those guidelines, and release the report for public comment before it is finalised.
Once prepared, the draft public environment report will be open for public comment. Stockland will be required to address any relevant public comments, before submitting a final public environment report to the department.
When will a decision be made?
Once the finalised public environment report is accepted by the department the minister or his nominated delegate will have 40 business days to make a final decision, unless further information is required.
