Jandakot Airport - Environmental recommendation on Major Development Plan (MDP)

On 5 March 2008, the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts provided his Department's recommendation report to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government has responsibility for approving or rejecting the MDP under the Airports Act 1996. The Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts has concluded that the proposal will have a significant impact on the environment through the loss of remnant banksia woodland and resultant adverse impacts on the largest population of the listed threatened Grand Spider-orchid and other important species. Minister Garrett has therefore recommended to Minister Albanese that the proposal, in its current form, be rejected.

Given the public interest in this development a copy of the Department's recommendation report is available below.
