About the fact sheet
This fact sheet gives an overview of the Australian Government's environment assessment processes laid out in the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The EPBC Act is the Australian Government's key piece of environmental legislation. Under the Act you need approval from the Australian Government Minister for the Environment and Water Resources for any proposed action (including projects, developments, activities, or alteration of these things) that is likely to have a significant impact on a matter protected by the EPBC Act.
