About the policy
The EPBC Act Compliance and Enforcement Policy describes the department's approach to, and the principles that guide, compliance and enforcement activities under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
This policy has been developed in accordance with the department's overarching Compliance and Enforcement Policy and is subordinate to it. This policy explains how the department's overarching policy will be applied in relation to the EPBC Act. For reader convenience this policy has been written as a stand-alone document that is consistent with the overarching policy. As such, it necessarily restates some aspects of the overarching policy, and has been structured in a similar way.
