Enter the easting and northing (x and y coordinates) in metres of the point you want to transform:
This transformation is based upon the Australian Geodetic Datum 1966.
The Australian Map Grid (AMG) is a Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection. The continent is divided up into zones which have a width of six degrees of longitude. Here is a map showing the AMG zones.

AMG to Geographicals Transformation
Geographicals to AMG Transformation
Script:
The spatial data transformation is performed by a Perl script which has parameters passed to it via the forms interface.
Mathematics:
The transformation algorithm makes use of Redfearn's rigorous formulae as published in the National Mapping Council Special Publication 10 - The Australian Geodetic Datum Technical Manual, 1986. This transformation utilizes the Australian Geodetic Datum 1966.
Spatial Accuracy:
Depending upon the precision of the entered coordinates, this transformation will compute results to the nearest 4mm (nominal) on the ground.
Future Enhancements:
To cater for Geographicals in both Decimal Degrees (DD) and also Degrees, Minutes and Seconds (DMS). Also to possibly cater for transformations based on other spheroids.
