Enter the easting and northing (x and y coordinates) in metres of the point you want to transform:
This transformation is based upon the Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA).
The Map Grid of Australia (MGA) is a Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection based upon the Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA). The continent is divided up into zones which have a width of six degrees of longitude.

MGA to Geographicals Transformation
Geographicals to MGA Transformation
Script:
The spatial data transformation is performed by a Perl script which has parameters passed to it via the forms interface.
Mathematics:
The transformation algorithm makes use of Redfearn's rigorous formulae as published in the Geocentric Datum of Australia Technical Manual version 1.0. It uses the Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA) as its reference.
Spatial Accuracy:
Depending upon the precision of the entered coordinates, this transformation will compute results to the nearest 4mm (nominal) on the ground.
Future Enhancements:
To cater for Geographicals in both Decimal Degrees (DD) and also Degrees, Minutes and Seconds (DMS). Also to possibly cater for transformations based on other spheroids.
