Explanatory and elaborative information
There is a 16% difference between the year 12 completion rates of the highest and lowest socioeconomic decile. Time series data against this indicator show that the difference has declined from 19% in 1994. However, whereas for girls the gap has narrowed from 19% to 15%, for boys it has actually widened from 19% to 20%. Notably, the completion rate for the entire population has declined by one percentage point over the period, dropping by 2% for boys to 61% and remaining stable for girls at 74%.
