The Western Treatment Plant is an internationally recognised haven for birdlife and home to many native animal and plant species. The site has been treating sewage for over one hundred years and also supports extensive agricultural production.

Join our feathered friends on a tour to find out:

  • How sewage treatment processes contribute to the biodiversity of the area.
  • How sewage treatment, agriculture and conservation co-exist at WTP.
  • Why the WTP is considered a wetland of international significance.
  • About bird watching and bird identification.

How people can get involved with our community based monitoring programs including the Frog Census and bird monitoring.
