Assessment Service Auditors

The success of the Home Sustainability Assessment Scheme is contingent upon consistent and reliable outcomes being achieved through standardised inspection services and the correct use of Home Sustainability Assessment software.

A team of Assessment Service Auditors will conduct audits of the work of registered Assessors who have carried out work for the Australian Government.

These audits will consider:

The behaviour of the Assessor in their dealings with the household;
The behaviour of the Assessor in their dealings with the Australian Government;
The accuracy of the Home Sustainability Assessment;
The quality and independence of the advice to households; and
The fulfilment of obligations by the Assessor to the Code of Professional Practice.

Auditors are typically highly experienced and qualified Home Sustainability Assessors or residential building environmental performance experts. To avoid conflict of interest issues during the period of audit service contract, it is unlikely that Auditors will eligible to conduct assessment services or be associated with a company providing assessment services for the Australian Government.
