Funding assistance and other sources of assistance
The Asia-Pacific Focal Point supports complementary activities funded by UNESCO, the World Bank and other bodies in the region and will seek to maximise funding opportunities available from those bodies for projects in the region. The APFP will also play a role in identifying and mobilising additional resources for the implementation of the Convention. It will not have a funding assistance or grants element but may directly sponsor activities that promote the Convention. Its emphasis will be on sharing information, expertise and networking.
The UNESCO web site has information about the World Heritage Fund. International assistance from the Fund can support requests falling under five categories:
- preparatory assistance
- training assistance
- technical cooperation
- emergency assistance
- request for technical assistance
- promotional and educational assistance
