Every six years States Parties to the World Heritage Convention are required to provide a periodic report to the World Heritage Committee about the World Heritage properties in their territory. The reports are compiled on a regional basis. In 2003 the Asia-Pacific Region is required to make its first report to the Committee. A meeting of Asia-Pacific States Parties was held in March 2002 in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, Australia to discuss the format and preparation of the report.
