About the report and bibliographic files
Over the years a substantial amount of research has been conducted in the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia (formerly called the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves (Australia) or CERRA) parks and reserves. The work has been conducted by a large number of state and non-government agencies, independent researchers and university students. Much of this work has not been coordinated and a considerable proportion has not been published, limiting it availability beyond the institution responsible for its completion.
This report identifies relevant works of research as well as documents of a more general nature concerned wholly or partly with Gondwana Rainforests of Australia properties and adjacent land of appropriate vegetation communities. Relevant documents are identified, their contents are summarised and the location of unpublished documents is recorded, facilitating access by interested parties and possible compilation of a specialised library.
Some 1500 documents that held some relevance to the project were examined; 1050 of these referred specifically to at least one Gondwana Rainforests park or reserve, with another 220 documents being concerned with areas encompassing Gondwana Rainforests property. The primary focus of research or commentary of each document was identified and placed in one of seven categories: Ecological, Planning/management, Taxonomic, Social, Genetics, Cultural, and Earth Sciences.
In addition to a detailed presentation of results, the report provides a discussion of the project, draws conclusions about the nature of research conducted in and around Gondwana Rainforests properties, and provides recommendations for further work and handling of reports and data.
The Microsoft Word file lists all references, while the Excel file provides additional information on each reference. The list of references is also presented as specialised bibliographic database files, created in EndNote (v 7.0), for use with EndNote and ProCite software. These allow searches by keywords, facilitate easy creation of a formatted bibliography within documents, and simplify web access to journal articles via URL links.
Any information adding to or updating the information in the bibliography should be provided to the Gondwana Rainforests Executive Officer at gondwana@environment.nsw.gov.au
