Cascade Female Factory Heritage Works: significance of site
The Cascades Female Factory is of social, historical and architectural significance for its association with Australia's female convict history. It is one of the most intact of the 11 female factories established in the early 1800s.
The Factory is one of a very limited number of surviving sites associated with female convictism and was recently included on the World Heritage List.
