Cootamundra Early Lebanese Graves Conservation Project: outcomes
Benefits of project
The project will employ local tradespeople and labourers to carry out the conservation works and purchase plants from local suppliers. Design and production of the brochure will be carried out by local members and volunteers of the Australian Lebanese Historical Society.
Once the project is complete, the graves and their respective brochures will attract people with an interest in history, genealogy and immigration. Conservation of the 13 graves will ensure that their history is further preserved and will stimulate interest in local heritage and tourism for the town and region alike. The brochure will be distributed to regional heritage centers, libraries, museums and tourism outlets, broadening interest in Cootamundra's heritage.
