Conservation Works for Hartley Street School: significance of site
Constructed in 1930 as the first official school in Alice Springs, Hartley Street School is an important heritage place in the centre of Alice Springs, representing both Inter-War and Post-War institutional architecture.
In 1950, the inaugural "School of the Air" broadcast was made from a small studio at the site.
