Photo reproduction fees

Student use

If you are a student researching heritage issues, you can reproduce a low resolution image for no charge providing:

  1. you ask us for permission for reproduction
  2. the use is within a report or presentation submitted for assessment only and is not made available for sale or published in more than 10 copies.
  3. you can download the photograph from this website and no library search is required*.
  4. the Australian Heritage Photographic Library is acknowledged.

*If you require us to search the collection for particular subjects and provide low resolution scans, library search time can be purchased at $40 per hour.

Low resolution use $120

Low resolution files of photographs in the photographic library on this website are generally around 750 by 500 pixels in jpeg format.

The cost of using low resolution images downloaded from the photographic library for use on a website or another screen based presentation is $120. This allows you to use the photograph indefinitely on one screen. You must specify the url of the specific file in the reproduction request. Any changes to the specific url in the future will incur further charges.

High resolution use $160

The cost of single time use of photographs for reproduction in displays or printed publications is $160. This includes standard library search (1 hour), high resolution scan to your specification, CD and postage.

Additional library search time can be purchased at $40 per hour.

Special reproduction

Prints or duplicate colour transparencies for slide talks will be charged at cost plus $40. These cannot be used for commercial purposes or for electronic or print publishing.
