Historic Shipwrecks Program

The Australian Government, through the Historic Shipwrecks Program implements the Historic Shipwrecks Act 1976. It is administered by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts with its State and Territory partners.

The Department provides annual funding to State and Territory agencies to help protect shipwrecks and their relics and to promote better understanding of their stories.
