Portfolio Budget Statements 2013-14
The Portfolio Budget Statements 2013-14 (PB Statements) for the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities Portfolio were submitted to the Parliament on 14 May 2013 (Budget Night). The PB Statements provide information, explanation and justification to enable Parliament to understand the purpose of each outcome proposed in the Appropriation Bills No. 1 and No. 2 2013-14.
Sustainable Australia Report 2013 released

Consultation Regulation Impact Statement on regulation of water market intermediaries open for comment
The Council of Australian Governments Standing Council on Environment and Water has released a Consultation Regulation Impact Statement on the regulation of water market intermediaries. The consultation period is open until COB Friday 7 June 2013.
Independent Review of Australian Government Environmental Information Activity
The final report of the review has now been released.
State Party Report on the Great Barrier Reef
On 1 February 2013 the Australian Government submitted a State Party Report on the state of conservation of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area to the World Heritage Committee.
Australia's 65th Ramsar Site announced
Piccaninnie Ponds Karst Wetlands in South Australia has been designated as a Ramsar site under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance.
Draft Environmental Water Recovery Strategy for the Murray-Darling Basin
The consultation period for the draft Environmental Water Recovery Strategy has now closed. The department is now considering the content of submissions received as part of the work to finalise the Strategy.
